    Description

This lot consists of two items :-
    1) Australia 1957 (27th Mar) Australian Antarctic Territory 2/- stamp (Ref. 2) SG 1 (Ref. 1) on WCS cachet First Day Cover cancelled in black 'BRISBANE  / 27 MR 57 / QLD-AUST' typed
addressed to UK. Cover has the odd spot mark and crease but the stamp and postmarks are fine
    (see scans 1 & 2).
    2)
Australia 1957 (27th Mar) Australian Antarctic Territory 2/- stamp (Ref. 2) SG 1 (Ref. 1) on Royal cachet First Day Cover cancelled in black 'BELMONT / 27MR57 / VIC-AUST' manuscript address to UK. Cover is fine (see scans 3 & 4).
Stamps of Australia were used from the Australian Antarctic Territory bases before 27th March 1957 (Refs 1 & 2) and remained valid for use there after the introduction of Australian Antarctic Territory issues.
Australian Antarctic Territory issues are also valid for use in Australia where they are put on sale for a limited period when first issued (Ref. 1).
I attest that the 'roo stamps(or any stamps for that matter) in my stock have not been reperfed, reperfinned(if a perfin),regummed(if mint or CTO) or gassed while in my possession. Furthermore I assert that these 'roo stamps have never been so treated because I bought them so long ago before these things were prevalent and/or I bought them from impeccable sources.
