1949 Taiwan, China, Nanking University Alumni, Industrial Factories Photo Album

Description

Original 1949 - 1953 photo album from Republic of China / Taiwan although a few might have been taken in mainland China. A young college aged Chinese girl is seen repeatedly throughout the album and I think it once belonged to her. The photos depicting a wide range of subjects with quite a few being industrial or factories with some of these dated 1949. I checked for captions on these and most have dates and short captions like ' D.D.T. ' or ' Cane Works '. A few of the larger photos have captions written within the photo and I managed to get some of these translated. These include: ' Nanjing Central University alumni gathered at Tainan City Taiwan Hotel for gathering 12/12/1954. ' and ' Taiwan Sugar Company second term C technicians training graduation, December 2nd, 1953 at Sugar Experimental Bureau ' and ' Taiwan Sugar Corp. soil and fertilizer training class with entire academic faculties and students 1951/8/21 '.  There are a few military photos including a paratrooper unit jumping from an aircraft, early helicopter, what appear to be P-51 mustangs in service with the Republic of China's air force. Really a nice range of photos and an interesting look at Taiwan's history. The album contains about 400 photos with a range of sizes. There are two loose pages with a few photos and these pages look to have come from a different album but it is the same family.
The softcover album measures 14" x 10" and roughly 1" inch thick. I have uploaded all the photos in the album for your viewing.
